The mild weather followed the CP Holiday Train through stops in Hamilton, Ayr, Cambridge and London, Ontario. No doubt the weather played a part in the large turnouts at each location.
Thousands came out to see the Holiday Train in Hamilton, as it rolled into the Kinnear Yard, behind Gage Park off Lawrence Street, Saturday night. “This is our biggest crowd so far, this is an amazing turnout,” said CP Rail spokesperson Katie Hill. The crowd's excitement at could be sensed even miles away, as people had lined up at distances that were not even close to the train's actual stop, just to get in good viewing position. Once again, the train of lights did not disappoint.
Matt Roberts and his friends had just returned from a paintball event in Hamilton, and they made sure that they got to the stop in time. "Yes, we were paintballing all afternoon, and I told my buddies that we had to stop in time to see the Train. I think it's amazing what CP does, and that we can help out many people by donating.
In London, the riders included four generations of one family. Starting with grandmother Mary Mitchell, daughter Mary-Lou Harrison, grand-daughter Jessica Merucci, and great-grandaughter, 2-yr old Avelyn. Mary also spoke about the experience. "I am thrilled to attend to be here and to be able to attend with four generations of my family. For people to bring food and help others, I think it's just awesome."
