Wednesday night was bittersweet for the
Canadian CP Holiday Train crew as we said goodbye to the Brothers Dube. Liam,
Jan and Quinn electrified the shows from Montreal to Winnipeg, putting the rock
in this year's holiday jams. This was the 3rd year the young trio was on the
Holiday Train and they were a pleasure to have on board.
Sixteen year-old Jan is the eldest brother, lead singer and bassist and is a mysterious character who does much of the song writing. Fifteen year-old Liam often takes the band leader role, making sure his brothers are ready with their instruments and cables before the show (except when he hides Quinn's drumsticks in the freezer). Band drummer Quinn, who celebrated his 12th birthday on the train, is a bundle full of energy, and adds his own element of fun to each show.
Before going on stage, the boys had a ritual of drinking one of our famous Holiday Train hot chocolates before coming up with a greeting for the local crowd (known for their discriminating judgement in hot chocolate, the lads were quick to pronounce if the finished product met their standards for taste, bouquet and viscosity).
All three brothers were greeted with cheers and screams of delight by the Winnipeg crowd, who loved the band's farewell Holiday Train performance. Performer Miss Emily loved singing and working with the Brothers Dube, and gave praise to their energy, their sense of fun, and their musicianship.
All of us at CP were delighted to have the Brothers Dube on the 2012 Holiday Train this year.
Thanks, Liam, Jan and Quinn for all the great music you shared with us and all the stops from Montreal to Winnipeg: you guys rock!
